Autism Testing
In Arlington, Virginia
I offer comprehensive autism evaluations for children (ages 4+), adolescents, and adults. These assessments help diagnose or clarify autism spectrum disorder (ASD), identify strengths and areas of difficulty, and guide meaningful support at school, work, and in everyday life.
What the evaluation includes
Clinical interviews and developmental history
Questionnaires and rating scales
Observational tools and standardized testing
Assessment of social communication, sensory experiences, and daily functioning
How the process works
I use the ADOS-2, the gold standard in autism assessment, along with other evidence-based instruments. When helpful, I also collaborate with schools and other providers to develop a fuller understanding of the individual.
Why people seek testing
Many people seek testing after years of feeling different, misunderstood, or exhausted by the effort of trying to keep up socially or emotionally. An evaluation can provide clarity, language for long-standing experiences, and a better understanding of how your brain works.
What an evaluation can provide
Whether you’re seeking early intervention for a child or clarity for yourself, my goal is to provide an affirming, thoughtful evaluation process that helps you move forward with greater insight and confidence.
Autism Evaluations for
Women and Girls
Autism can present differently in girls and women, which means many people reach adolescence or adulthood without ever being identified. Some women learn to mask social difficulties, carefully study social expectations, or push themselves to appear “fine” while struggling internally with overwhelm, exhaustion, sensory sensitivities, anxiety, or relationships.
Women seeking autism evaluations often describe:
Feeling different or out of step socially
Exhaustion from masking or overcompensating
Intense internal experiences that others don’t see
Sensory sensitivities or difficulty with transitions
Long histories of anxiety, depression, burnout, or misdiagnosis
For many adults, receiving an autism diagnosis brings relief, validation, and a more compassionate understanding of themselves. It can also help identify supports and strategies that better fit their strengths and needs.
